Etsy treasures

I am really enjoying the Etsy shop. A few items added each friday to keep it fresh, but also to keep the workload minimal as I wade back into being creatively productive.

I have a really big post coming up about the wading part, it's been unexpectedly difficult and I'd like to share about it because, well, living a creative life can be hard sometime and it seems important to acknowledge the trials as much as the achievements.

For right now though, I just want to share some of my favorite treasures. Clicking on the etsy shop link over on the right there will take you to the shop to see everything else.

This inlaid house on this small cedar box knocks me out.
I had a small cedar box on my dresser as a kid, it contained one rock with obsidian on it that my mom said was probably shot out of a volcano, a small set of address labels from my "B" street home, a small plastic box with all my baby teeth, and a small tooth fairy bag that my aunt cross-stitched for me, (putting your tooth in a bag makes it easier for the tooth fairy to find it, plus my tooth fairy left me notes.)

I have to be honest. I've been looking for needlepoint pillows this charming for years and the first week I was set on opening an etsy shop I found one. Serendipity! The bottom one was found first and the next week I found the one pictured on top. I was over the moon to get this set back together again.

I absolutely adore ceramic bowls. Making lids is so tricky and this one is perfection.
My uncle makes ceramic ware for a living and when I was growing up my cousins and I would go with him to craft fairs all over to lend a hand. As an adult, he would hire me to operate the booth at the mall and help with sales during Christmas. "Lead free, oven and dishwasher safe." I have so many ridiculous stories about this job. I grew up with ceramic pieces that my dad, mom and uncle made around our home and am drawn to the earthy colors and weight of them in my hand. Nothing is as lovely as a well-crafted, wheel-thrown bowl with an even glaze.

This last guy is such a character. I think if I was a kid he would be taken in as the monster who is friendly but deadly. This guy even has a missing tooth, which makes me want to invent all kind of stories about how he lost that tooth.

Every item featured on Etsy is something that I  have a hard time not wanting to keep in my everyday, but that's the beauty of this project; letting go, sharing, dealing with that sentimentality and attachment.
