The Night Stand

Since sitting with the woodburner in this heat is not something I really want to dive into right now I've been digging into more books. I've added about 35 books to the library in the last few weeks, mostly thrift store finds, some purchased from our friend Adam Marler's yard sale and a few gifted from dear friends.

ART/WORK: Everything You Need to Know (and Do) As You Pursue Your Art Career An excellent book to read in sections, or whatever seems juicy at the time. The subtitle is Everything you need to know (and do) as you pursue your art career. It's full of juicy advice from gallery owners, artists and just about everyone working in the art world. It proved immensely helpful when I started working with FAM.

Swoon I love love love Swoons' street art. This is one of those books that makes me want to hit the streets, work big and dream big.
Four Arguments for the Elimination of TelevisionThis book came from Adam Marler. It was written in the late seventies so it's a bit dated, but it is full of interesting facts about TV as a medium. The four arguments are: The Mediation of Experience,The colonization of experience, Effects of TV on the Human Being and The Inherent Biases of TV. Good heavy stuff.
Brooklyn: A Novel This sweet little novel was featured on Seen and Said awhile back and her moving review stuck with me, so when I stumbled across it at a thrift store I scooped it right up. It's so well written I can't put it down.
Bossypants I actually read this one awhile back and it's in my pile of 'give to friend' books. I read the first half of it in the car to Z as we drove back from Makerfaire. Insanely funny.
